This Cheesy Artichoke Dip with Sourdough Bread is an absolute must-try, and once you do, it’s bound to become a family favourite for any occasion! Whether you’re hosting a holiday party, having friends over for game night, or just indulging in a cozy night at home, this dish is always a hit. What’s not to love? It’s warm, gooey, cheesy, and loaded with the rich flavours of artichoke hearts, garlic, and perfectly melted gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.

One of the best parts about this cheesy artichoke dip is how incredibly easy it is to make, yet it feels so gourmet. With just a handful of ingredients, you can whip up a flavourful appetizer that everyone will rave about. The artichoke hearts give the dip a subtle tang and texture, while the blend of gruyere and Parmesan cheeses adds a nutty, savoury depth that’s perfect for dipping bread into.

And speaking of bread—this dip pairs beautifully with sourdough. The crusty exterior and chewy interior of the bread make for the perfect vehicle to scoop up all that cheesy goodness. I especially love using olive sourdough for an added layer of flavour, as the salty, briny olives complement the richness of the dip perfectly. But if you prefer a more classic pairing, a French baguette sliced into rounds is just as delicious.

The best part? You can prepare the dip ahead of time and bake it just before serving, making it an easy addition to any event. Plus, it’s versatile enough to customize! Want an extra garlic kick? Add a few more cloves. Prefer more cheese? Pile it on! This dip is forgiving and can be adapted to your taste, but no matter how you make it, it’s always a crowd-pleaser.

So, next time you’re planning a gathering or simply craving something indulgent, treat yourself and your guests to this Cheesy Artichoke Dip with Sourdough Bread—the perfect marriage of cheese, garlic, and bread that will have everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds!).

Ingredients

  • 3 slices sourdough or French baguette medium sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups artichoke hearts chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1/4 cup gruyere cheese freshly grated
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven to a low broil. Arrange the sourdough slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush each slice with olive oil. Broil for 2 minutes on one side, then flip and broil for 1 minute more, until golden brown.
  • Prepare the Topping: Reduce oven temperature to 400°F. In a bowl, mix together the chopped artichokes, Parmesan cheese, gruyere cheese, sour cream, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  • Assemble & Bake: Spread the artichoke and cheese mixture evenly onto the toasted sourdough slices. Place the toasts back in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the toasts diagonally for a fancy touch. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley or chives for added colour and flavour.
